Hi All,
Asking on behalf of a friend. He finished his medical degree training in the United States (J1 visa). He has a valid visit visa to Canada (which might not be relevant). He got a full-time attending job at a hospital in New Brunswick and signed the contract. A positive LMIA should be fine considering his specialty during the pandemic, pending processing.
He is considering going back to his home country (Middle East) and basically applying for the work permit from there (which would require 3-4 months in processing times).
However, the question is would he be eligible for getting the work visa at point of entry if he enters Canada from the United States?
From all of what I gathered it seems that would be the more feasible option in terms of processing time and logistics.
For the port of entry, I understand that he would need: the contract, confirmation letter from the hospital, copy of the LMIA (?)?
Am I missing something?
Thanks!!
