Work permit from London office

I applied for work permit to Canada in the first week of July and haven't got my decision yet. My file has been sent to UK office. Since my file is past the normal processing time, i contacted the embassy and they said the file is under "active review". it has been 130 days and it is so frustrating to wait that long. I also have few concerns:

I have been selected in the pool for PR, would this affect my work permit application? i haven't applied for PR yet. The reason for asking this is i am going to Canada to do research (that is what my original work application is for) but i stated in cover letter (which i added as additional information) that i am intending to renew my work permit if a research fellowship that i applied for goes through (the fellowship is only for 4 months, the original research is for 5 months). i thought i would just be honest and mention it, as i know that i will be leaving Canada after my work permit expires. But since the application was delayed, i didn't apply for it. I also conveyed that information to the embassy that the particular point is no longer valid. I was bit concerned that my intention to apply for an extension coupled with me being slected in the pool will rise suspiscion about my dual intent, I have an extensive travel history. I studied, worked in Canada before, have visas stamped from four different countries and stampings occupying half the passport pages and i also have a contract waiting for me in my country of residence (after i complete my research in canada) which i also mentioned in my cover letter. But i am just worried how the VO would interpret that (me being in the pool and mentioning my intent to extend work permit in canada)?

Do anyone know if they would schedule an interview to clarify their doubts (i mean VO)?

Also what is the longest processing time for a work permit? In one of the forums there was a guy whose work permit was approved in 6.5 months. Do you know if anyone's work permit processing time took > 6.5 months?

Right now the duration of my stay for which iapplied is is 5 months and almost i am waiting for nearly 4.5 months. Is it usually the case with London office that work permits are delayed a lot?

My pervious visas were all approved quicker, so i am worried about this work permit application
