HI All,

I'm an Argentinean and work in the IT business. My wife and I, we want to try to immigrate to Montreal, as we have family there.
Although we will start the application, we want to go before we get the residency.

How feasible is to find a job from out side? and try to get a work permit from them?
if not we in a future we can go a couple of months and try to find something in person.
and afterwards if no success at all, wait for the residency.

Have any of you experienced this?

Thanks!!

It's fairly difficult to get a job from abroad. In order to be approved for a work visa, you must first find an employer who is willing to give you a job offer. That employer must also obtain an approved LMO (labour market opinion). To be approved for the LMO, the employer must prove that they advertised the job and were unable to find a Canadian to hire for the role. Many / most employers aren't willing to consider foreign candidates for open positions because the LMO process takes too long or they know the LMO will be refused (because there are plenty of qualified Canadians). By all means go ahead and try applying. However don't be disappointed if you don't hear back from the vast majority of employers. Unfortunately it probably won't be much different in person. Good luck.
