No.Did you mention her as your spouse while applying,if you did,then she qualifies for work permit valid for the duration of your studies.
Even yourself,what you were issued in your country wasnt the study permit but the visa,i believe your study permit was processed at the port of entry.
Same to your wife,her work permit will be processed at the port of entry while she will be joining you.....Not unless the rules have changed.
