work permit extension

hi everyone,

can i apply for the extension of my work permit as early as now even if it will be expiring on nov. 2012?

i'm about to submit my application for OWP by jan. 2012...i have a plan to go on vacation on dec. 2012 and im afraid that i can't go home without a valid work permit because of the long processing time of OWP...

or can i apply for extension of work permit by march 2012 after i applied for OWP on jan. 2012?

If you send your open work permit application with your permanent residence application and you continue working for the employer mentioned on your current work permit while the application is being processed Then you do not have to extend your work permit, even if it expires during the processing of your application for permanent residence.

If you send your open work permit application with your permanent residence application and you want to change employer after sending your application will need to submit a new application for a work permit along with a new positive Labour Market Opinion issued by Human Resources and Skills Development/Service Canada to your employer and pay the appropriate fees...
If you wanna have a vacation your work permit must be atleast still valid for 6mos..

You can proceed with your plan of applying an extension on March 2012 or better yet monitor the work permit extension processing time on the website and do some calculations. In this way, you will receive your application for extension before the Nov. 2012 expiration.

I suggest to reason out on Box 10 the validity of your healthcard, SIN and Drivers Licence (if you have) as these identifications coincide with your WP expiration.

so it means that after i send my application for OWP by january 2012,, i can still apply for an extension by march 2012?
