Work permit extension

Hi Friends,

My girlfriend is on work permit and i have a PR. Her work permit is getting expired on aug 2018 and her company is not providing the extension. Is it possible to extend her work permit if i get married to her? If we get married here in canada and apply for open work permit how much time would it take? She is already in the pool with crs 435 and is waiting to get ITA.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Yes you could do that but she would still have to stop working because you'd have to get married and get the marriage license, then get the marriage certificate in the mail which often takes 1-2 months (may be able to pay for rush delivery), then fill out all the paperwork/gather documents, apply for inland spousal sponsorship with owp and wait approx 4 months until she gets owp. If she is likely to get selected with crs435 soon it would probably be faster. She can stop working and apply to change her status to visitor for up to 6 months while remaining in Canada.
