I have an important question. My partner's sponsoring company has submitted the LMIA, but we are waiting for a response and our current work permit expires in 1 month and some days. We have seen on the government website (https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=701&top=17) that you can apply for an extension of your work permit while it is being resolved.
The thing is that our lawyer (I don't know if he wants to charge more money or not), told us that "I heard IRCC updated their policy that they may no longer wait for the LMIA, so this option is risky", but we don't know if he wants to charge more for the process of changing us to visitor (he charges us 2000$ for that).
We would like to know if anyone knows anything related to this.
