Work permit Extension due to passport expiry

Hi All,
I had some question regarding my Work Permit Extension.

I got my work permit in Oct 2020 until March 2023, although I was eligible for 3 years... i.e. Oct 2023 as I have completed my P.G. Diploma of 2 years in a college in Toronto.
The reason for the less time was because my passport expired in March 2023, and the PGWP document clearly states that as one of the reasons for my less time approval.

I did renew my passport October 2022 and have it till Oct 2032 now.
I have applied for my extension in Dec 2022 for the duration that I was remaining because of my passport expiry. It is a paper-based application.

I had two primary questions,

1. Is there any reason because of which my PGWP will not be extended to the time that I was eligible for... i.e... Oct 2023?
2. If I do get an extension ... since I was given WP 8 months less than my eligibility, by the time it gets approved... say May 2023, will I get till Oct 2023 or 8months from May 2023... i.e. Feb 2024?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Hey buddy! You will definitely get approved. Also it will be issued till October!


Did you hear back from them yet and what was the decision? And how long does it take for them to get them to you?

Hi @Ayo2995 , no there is no reply from them.. I am unable to track it as it was a paper based application.. but I have not received my work permit yet.
