Work Permit Extension After Receiving a Job Offer

Hello,

I did a one year master's program in Canada, after which I would be eligible for a 1 year Post-Graduation Work Permit. Several colleagues of mine in the same master's program received 3 year PGWPs. I'm not sure if that had to do with the expiry dates of their passports or the fact that some had job offers.

I am having trouble getting financing from the bank for a car or anything else because I only have 10 months left on my work permit. Although I am currently putting together my PR application, which will probably take a while, I need to extend my PGWP for the short term to make my life easier. Is there a way around that?

Thanks.

1. No, you studied for 1 year, you got a 1 year PGWP. No extensions, to continue working you would require an employer to obtain and LMIA and you a new work permit.
