work permit extension 5 months in advance

Hi,
My wp expires in Oct 2012. I want to sponsor my spouse. So, before that I would like to renew my wp now. Is it possible to renew my WP 5 months in advance?

hi tata84,

i don't know where you are at the moment (BC, Alberta ect...) but at the moment I have to apply for a LMO/CAQ in Montreal. I sent the application 6 weeks ago....and got today the confirmation letter : Votre Dossier est ouvert ! 6 weeks ! Depending from where you want to apply (inside or outside) ....i can't be early enough! My permit expires End of July 2012... and i still have to apply for a permit!

thanks lepatissier07 for reply, Currently I am at Halifax, NS. My paper work is ready. cic website says atleast 30 days before expire of your wp. But I just want to know weather I can apply 5 months in advance or not.
