Work permit extended - Need details on visa stamping

Hi,

I am in Canada on a work permit. My work permit is getting expired this month, I have applied for the work permit extension. This will only renew my work permit. I want to get my VISA extended as well. Heard that this can be done by sending the passport to USA.

Please let me know the procedure.
