Work permit expires, temporary lay-off, still eligible for EI/CERB?

Hello, my work permit expires in 35 days. I've already applied for an extension through my workplace, but as processing is taking even longer now I don't believe I'll be receiving the extension before the current permit expires. I'm a full-time employee, with a closed work permit, on temporary lay-off.
I have two questions I'm hoping you could help with:
1) will the temporary lay-off affect my work permit extension application? Will it be paused or will it be cancelled altogether, or will they still process it as usual?
2) will the validity of my work permit impact my EI or CERB application? The temp lay-off is by cause of COVID-19, and I did make over the required $5000.
Thank you very much for your time!

hi! i am same situation with you!!! my closed work permit has expired on may 10 and i applied Bridging visa and i do not think that temporary lay off affect getting new work permit. (we got temporary layoff because of covid 19 ) and my agents tell me same also i applied pr and waiting. just we do not know when to get new work permit.( just my thought)
2 i was on ei and after my work permit and sin expired i coulnt able to sign in to MSCA because of that. i called them twice and first guy was telling me just report it and told him that i am not able to sign in to MSCA and he said whenever i got new work permit and sin re apply again. there is nothing i or they can do. after that i found out i can go to online reporting service which i only need my sin number and access code and this could able to report ei claim (possible to report with expired sin ) but i was not sure to do this. so i called and they said they are reviewing my claim so call them later again. so i still don't know what to do

i am really frustrated my situation and i am searching all over and no answer yet.
if you find out something please share with me????
good luck to you!! all the best!
