Hello all, good night.
As the majority of the people on this forum, I reaching out looking for help and guidance to be able to understand a couple of things. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I came to Canada a bit over 2 (two) years ago to study. After graduation, I applied for my COOP permit and soon after that, to my post-graduate work permit with a validity of 1 (one) year. I got married couple of months before the expiracy of my work permit and to be able to stay in Canada (as I still don't have all the documents for the sponsorship process), I applied for a new TRV on October 2nd to not have to leave Canada and not remain here ilegally. When I went through the CIC Wizard, it said that I was elegible to EXTEND my stay in Canada and that the process would take roughly a month. It has been over a month now and there has been no answer. Today when I tried to call the CIC by phone, they say that the process will take 137 days which is not what the site said at the beginning. Do you have any information around this? I hope my explanation was clear enough.
On a side note, do you know if this new permit that will allow me to "stay" in Canada, could let me travel and get back in? I have a trip planned for a very long time and I'm really worried that I won't be able to go.
Has anyone been through the same situation/process?
Thank you very much and have a good night.
