Work permit expire soon

Hi everyone,
May be one of you can help me answer my question.
I am currently on PGWP (open work permit).
My work permit is expiring in August 24th and I like to extend work permit I have an option to apply close work permit but I like to extend as open work permit.
CIC recently announce to extend WP for 18 months but I am not sure that can I apply now because they did not mentioned the date from when this program start.
Is any one knows?

Unfortunately IRCC hasn't published the details yet for the 18 month extension.
