I am in Canada since July 2013 working on a Closed Work Permit with expiry date of July 2016. The work permit was issued based on LMO. The LMO was issued in February 2013 for an employment duration of 24 months. Though my Work Permit is valid thru July 2016, do I need a new LMO beyond February 2015? Generally the work permit is issued for the employment duration on the LMO, however in my case the Work Permit was issued for a duration greater than employment duration on the LMO.

It looks like CIC made a mistake in issuing you a longer work permit. You should be fine using your work permit till July 2016. Anyway you not gonna wait that long and instead apply the PR as soon as you can. Why to go for another LMIA thing.CECOCT2014 said:

In the meantime, my employer has informed me that I would be laid off in Feb 2015 on completion of my current project. Assuming that I get my AOR by Feb 2015, my thoughts are that I would not be able to apply for a BOWP as my closed work permit is valid thru July 2016. Is that right?
