Hello Sir/Ma’m,

My wife (age 29) is on study permit and I (age 34) am on open work permit (both Indian nationality and arrived to Canada on 24th Aug 2015 and residing in ONTARIO); I got a job by 15th October, 2015 and since working with an Investment Bank (one of the top 5 investment banks in the world) as a Manager in IT. I received my visa and work permit till 18th Mar 2017 as my passport would expire on 19th Mar 2017 whereas my wife's study permit is valid till 30th Nov 2017. I have renewed my passport valid till 2026. I have created my express entry profile online but short of 400 points and I would expect to gain some points as soon as I complete my one year Canadian work experience by mid October 2016. As I can’t predict the future, I would assume that my profile is not picked up till Nov, 2017 and based on this theory, my questions are

1) a) Can I apply for an extension of my permit followed by Visa now (or both together) or I have to wait literally 3 - 4 months before my visa and permit expiry?
b) For Visa extension, do I need to send my new passport over courier to CIC or do I need to go physically somewhere and get it stamped? In short, what is the procedure to renew the Visa as I believe we can’t do it online?
c) Is there any chance of rejection assuming all the documents are submitted correctly and have a clean background? Even if worst case scenario, rejection happens and hopefully before my permit expires, I can re-apply and hope for approval?

2) Assuming the extension is approved, I believe, I would receive the new visa and permit till 30th Nov 2017 to match with my wife's permit/visa expiry. My wife's course has mandatory co-op and she will start her co-op from Aug 2016 onwards. her course completes by Jun 2017 and her certificates will be received by end of July 2017. I believe, she can apply for her work permit only after receiving all these certificates.
a) So, do you recommend to apply for her work permit and my new open work permit together by end of Jul 2017 or apply her first and once approved, apply mine?
b) I am just wondering, if this whole process goes beyond Nov, 2017, would there be any impact to my work status (or I can continue work as I would be in implied status?)

Above 2 questions were assuming my profile was not picked up in express entry pool. Now wrt Express Entry and Province nominations,
1) My wife’s education is Bachelor’s in Science; plus she has done executive MBA (1 year course) in India. Due to lack of evaluation(as it seems extremely hard to get transcripts and attestation from her college), I couldn’t put anything on her education category. She will complete her course here in Canada only by Jun 2017 as I mentioned earlier but was wondering do we need to evaluate even her high school (or secondary) certificates (from India) or the evaluation is only for post-secondary studies? If no evaluation required for her secondary education, I might bag few more points in my favor. Please advise.
2) After October, I would be eligible for PNP as my points would be above 400. What is the time frame for applying PNP for this year? I heard first come, first serve basis (assuming strong profiles are given preference)
3) As per CRS calculator, by Jun 2017, after my wife’s education completion, my points would be around 472+ but the concern is I would have only few months left before my visa and permit expires. Assuming my wife gets a job right after this Aug, 2016 and continue till she gets her work permit, I believe there shouldn’t be any problem for me to get new open work permit for another 3 years starting Dec, 2017. Please advise.

1a. You need to wait until closer to permit expiry.

b. You need to mail your passport with the TRV app to CPC-Ottawa.

c. There is always the possibility of refusal. Provided you meet all requirements and put together a complete application, chances of refusal are low. If you are refused, you can re-apply and attempt to address the reasons for the refusal.

2a. Your wife must first have a NOC A, B or 0 job before you can apply for an OWP based on her PGWP. If she doesn't already have such a job when applying for her PGWP, you would not be able to apply for an OWP at the same time. If she still doesn't have a skilled job when your OWP is going to expire, you would need to change your status to visitor.

b. You would only be able to continue working if you apply for another work permit prior to your current permit expiring. If you don't qualify for another OWP, you will need to stop working when your current permit expires.

1. As far as I know, it is your choice to evaluate foreign education or not.

2. Depends on which province. I suggest you post in the PNP section of the forum.

3. As said above, you would only qualify for an OWP based on her PGWP if she has a skilled job.
