work experience

Hi everyone.

Please forgive my ignorance re this matter but ill ask it anyway. In applying for ee, lets say iv found an employer willing to give mr a skilled lmia, but i dont have any experience in that position, ddo i still have to wait for one year before i can apply?

Or is it possible, same industry but not position. Ex. Fca for 2 years then was able to get supervisory position.
