Hi experts,

Wanted to ask if I can claim points for work that I did as a receptionist before graduating. To explain my case in a bit more details:

started bachelor of business administration from 2009 and dropped out in 2011.
Started working as a receptionist from 2012 to 2014 for around 3 years.
Came to Australia as a student in December 2014, finished bachelor in 2016
Then did masters and finished in 2018.

can I claim points for those 3 years of work that I did.
Thank you

First of all, have you applied for EE yet?

Which NOC code are you going with?
If the roles and tasks you performed in your previous employment match with the ones described in your chosen NOC code, go ahead and claim those points, then prove it clearly with job offer, signed work contract, letter of reference, payslips and tax refunds.

If your previous employment has nothing related to the chosen NOC, then I would suggest to disregard it to avoid any confusion for your application and your future case officer.

All the best for your application.

Hi

No I haven’t created an EE profile yet.
My job roles resemble that of an “administrative assistant”.

I have all payslips, reference letter and the joining letter. But since my income was tax exempt, I don’t have any tax return documents. I can ask for the salary certificate from my employer.
I currently have 471 points. But that’s the only work experience I have that is under NOC 0,A,B. Without the work experience I’m not eligible. Thank you for your advice

What I would suggest is that you should list out the duties performed by you in your previous employment. Then align them with the ones listed in NOC code.
After that kindly ask for another reference letter from your former employer to confirm those were your duties on the job.

As for the tax returns information, I’m not sure if it is required to actually proof your work experience. But I’m only speaking from my experience here though.

As long as the work experience accrued is not Canadian, you can claim points for it under EE.
