work experience loss due to Covid 19 and PGWP extension ( In Canada applicants)

Hello Friends,

I studied in Manitoba and I am currently on PGWP of 1 year. To be eligible for MPNP skilled worker in Manitoba program, I must work atleast for 6 months under one employer.

I started my new job in feb -2020 and on April 1, 2020 I got laid off due to lockdown. I have not been told to return to work till the date. i have been sitting at home since last 3.5 months. my Pgwp will expire on october 08, 2020. i have no time to gain extra 4 months work experience to apply for MPNP.

I was wondering if there is anyone in same situation. Did anyone get PGWP extension due to covid 19 impact? I read some people have entered petition in ontario to request government to give extra 6 months of PGWP for candidates like me.

You can't extend a PGWP.

Unfortunately, you can't extend PGWP. Your best chance is to wait for your employer. Do you know if the 6 months need to be continuous?
