Hi I need help with the work experience letters.

I have worked in 4 companies and i have appointment letter and relieving letters for all organizations. My query is about the reference letter.

Somewhere i read that you require a JD printed on the letterhead of the company and that if that is not there, then a reference letter from your manager will do.

Heres my query

1) If the company doesnt give a JD letter, and my manager is also not available, would a affidavit from a colleague do stating my responibilities in the organization?

2) Is reference letter for all organizations mandatory for an express entry? Please do keep in mind im asking for EE and not FSW.

Also, if i get it correctly for EE, we require 1) Appointment /expereince letter
2) JD with roles and responsibilities.

DO we also need a reference letter? is it different from a JD?

Could someone please clarify what documents are required to show work experience for EE

Thanks.

I'll give you some general advice based on my own experience. It should answer your concerns I beleive.

1. All applications are EE nowadays, however, you need to meet the FSW required minimum of 67 points as well.

2. While calculating CRS points, 3 years of experience will give you maximum points for foreign work. On the other hand, you get more FSW points for more than 3 years of work experience.

3. Work experience that you are using to claim points, is the one you need to prove. It's always better to meet more than the minimum requirements. For example, if you get invited on the basis of 3 years of work experience while having more years of experience (that you can prove), then by all means include those extra years in your application. That way, you wouldn't have points deducted in case the VO is not satisfied with your proofs.

4. The 2 things you need to prove for most jobs are: a) you worked in a particular company, and b) you carried all the tasks and duties that are listed in your NOC of choice. If you can't get a single reference letter, then separate letters should be ok. Try and get both letters from the company itself. If you can't, your manager, if you can't a colleague. Nothing is guaranteed, but together with other proofs, I suppose you should be fine.

5. Do not underestimate the power of the internet. I bet it's what they rely on primarily for work related background checks. In your case for jobs you don't have reference letters for, try and find LinkedIn profiles of colleagues who did the same job, or job postings by your company.

6. The more proofs you can provide the better. Attach anything you could think of that proves you worked in a company and carried all the tasks and duties. I personally attached extracts of my bank statements and showed salary transfers to my account. I also attached copies of my residency visas, showing my sponsors in the UAE.

7. Do not underestimate the power of the internet. :)

Hello..

I have already created my EE profile and have entered five and half years experience. All my experience is in one NOC (2112). My first two job accounts for two and half years while the third one is exactly for three years.

So, I would like to know whether it would be a good idea to move first two jobs into personal history and include only the last three years experience?

Quite a few of members have suggested me that one should always provide minimal documentation after satisfying the eligibility criteria, may be because it will save a lot of effort on my part by not having to worry about arranging documentation for those periods and on CIC's part also, as they will have to only verify only three years experience.

Also, I am bit confused with calculating the duration of my work experience. I am following duration as three years. please correct me if I m wrong.

Job Start date: 03/01/2013
Job End date: 02/01/2016

I would like to thank all the forum members for being immensely helpful in applying on my own...

Thanks a lot...

Hi doc, if I were you, I'd keep at least one of the 2 initial jobs, because your 3 years of experience are from the same employer. You never know if the VO will be fully satisfied with all your documents from that particular employer.

I personally believe that showing that you worked for 3 employers rather than 1 together with supporting documentation, would contribute to the authenticity of your application. For instance, if you claim you worked for a big company, then showing that you had a job or 2 before joining that big company would mean that you're not faking things.

The topic of extra documentation is a subjective one. If YOU feel that uploading a particular document would make the VO less doubtful, then do it. I personally did and I think it contributed to getting a faster PPR.

In a nutshell, the more solid evidence you provide, the less doubtful the VO will be, the less chance they would have to do an extensive background check that would delay your application.

Thanks a lot buddy for your prompt and detailed response...

The problem is that my 1st and 2nd jobs are kind of amalgamated hence it won't be possible for me to separate them. So, if claim one I will have to claim both.

I was working with University and my profile is something that can be easily verified, as I have published a large number of research articles in international scientific Journals (a simple google search or a hyperlink would do) with all my details like affiliation and work profile as well as designation mentioned in them.

So, after taking all these points in consideration what would you suggest?

Also, removing them does not affect my legibility in any way (Still at 71 points).

Thanks in advance

If it's not too much trouble, claim both. Don't worry about extra documentation.

If it's gonna cause you stress and sleepless nights, then forget about it.

Do consider both CRS and FSW points.
