I plan to apply for PR in Canada and I would like to discuss and ask few questions in this respective. My educational background: I have B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering (with focus in IT). Afterwards, I worked in a US public school close to 2 years in J1 (Research Scholar) visa. The position was Research Associate (adjunct faculty), responsibilities mainly include implementing server-side software’s (back-end developer) with minor responsibilities as industrial consultant.

1.Will my working experiences be considered in the NOC 2174: Computer programmers and interactive media developer’s category considering the different educational background? The DS-2019 provides the information that "this EV (Exchange visitor) will work on a research on database and Internet visualization systems" and I mainly worked as Java developer (80% of time).

2. Can I use the DS-2019 as employment reference or I will need to ask separate letters from the HR of the university? The mentioned form has the starting and ending date with all other required informations.

3. The contract was terminated after 1.75 year, but the DS-2019 shows the duration of 2 years. While the PR application in Canada asks 1 year of working experiences and I have there 1 year and 8 months. Still will the termination of contract be an issue for the PR application? Currently, I’m back in home and working as Software developer in another company and hence, the overall working experience is above 2 years.

4. The work conducted while being as full-time student is not considered towards PR application. The DS-2019 tells the position was for graduate students while I was never enrolled in the university. I finished university (MSc) in Europe and relocated in US afterwards. Will it create an issue with the CIC to recognize as fulltime employment ?

5. This question is not very important, but, an answer will be helpful. The CIC considers 30hr/week as full time work while in US the full time work is 40hr/week. Will I get more duration, as the working hours are higher than Canadian aspect? Say, I worked 1.75 year and total working hours is (160 x 20) 3,200 while two years work in Canada according to CIC it will be (120 x 24) 2,880 hours.

Thanks for your kind answers, Rajosh
