Hello All,

I am applying for Federal Skilled Workers and i have 2 Work Experience certificates from my employers. the certificates have only the signature and seal of the company.

My question is, will this be sufficient to submit them in my application? should i also have the seal of the foreign ministry in my country on the certificates? or the signature of and seal of the company is enough?

those who had similar cases and applied, please advise!!

If the letter that you have meets the following requirement, then you are good to go. For the requirement check this page http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp.

The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:
a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
  • should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company)
  • should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits

I think you are focussing too much on the seal portion of the employment letters.

The part that really matters is what Stanlee mentioned above.

The letters have to include the job title, job duties, hours worked,...

Did you make sure that all the required information is included in your letters?

Thank you all.

the letters i have now include the periods during which i have been working of the employer, My job title, the company details, CEO signature, and company seal.

for example:

xx have worked at -company name - in the job of Translator on a full time base from 1st of January 2009 till 1st of April 2011.

is this OK?

Also, another question:

I am a Translator, I have worked for 3 years in a full-time base. i have 2 letters for these 3 years. One with 2.5 years and the other with 6 months. Then, i have been working as a Freelance translator for 4 years. for the freelance work i have 2 letters from main clients that state the following:

we, - company name - verify that xxx has been working for us as a freelance English - Arabic translator 5139 hours of freelance work which equal 25 working months, and he still working for us.

my question is, can i also add my freelance work years to my full-time years?

thanks

If that is literally all it says, then that is not enough. You have to include the number of hours worked, salary and the job duties, which have to largely match the NOC you are claiming the job experience for. If those are all missing, them you need new employment letters as those will not be enough.

No, this will not satisfy IRCC. Stanlee posted a link above, it states the required information needed in the Letters. The letters are the single most important document in the entire application, so do yourself a favor and make sure you get all the required information.

Also, another question:

You can count self-employment (freelance work is considered self-employment), but the letters require more information, and you need more documentation (e.g. contracts signed, proof of payment). Again, at the link under the Job experience section, there is more information on how to document self-employment experience.

I am sorry t o say but that will not be enough. You are missing the salary information and i think you should have an average weekly number of hours they paid you for as well. You can just have them average it out over the whole employment time, if it varied a lot.

You should also have a look at the specific NoC for translator and see which job duties are mentioned as part of that as yours sounds extremely generic and usually IRCC requires that most of the major duties that match the NOc are also covered in the letter you have from your employer.

Many people had issues because of missing information in their employment letters so i wouldnt take it lightly and try to get a letter that contains more detailed information than that.

I would especially encourage you to check all the job duties listed for your noc and make sure that several of them are mentioned in your letter.

Andre has shared the link for you regarding the specific requirements of what an Experience Letter should include. Sorry to say that what you posted is far from enough.

Here is the detailed requirement, I recommend you to ask your employer to write you a letter according to this:

Document requirements

The personalized document checklist in MyCIC prompts the applicant with an upload field for each work experience declared.
At the completeness check, the processing office determines only whether the required documents are included. The validity or fraudulence of the information is assessed only if and when the application is placed into processing.
The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:

a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits; and
if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience).
If the work experience is in Canada, proof may include copies of T4 tax information slips and notices of assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (the time period for these documents should reflect the work experience timeframe [e.g., work experience from 2006 to 2008 requires only documents from those calendar years]).

Thanks for adding a more detailed version of whats required, wenfeizh. Didnt have it at hand when sending my previous reply.

Hopefully, your previous employer is happy to give you a more detailed version of the letter as you are currently missing many of the required details.
