Its nice you have all that experience but unfortunately it may not be recognized here. The most important thing is if you have Canadian work experience or education. As you can see from the discussions in this forum many people who are doctors engineers and scientists who are working in resturants, bars and driving taxi, everything really boils down to your Canadian work experience.

I would advise u and ur husband to return to school, go to a college and get yrself an advanced diploma or a post grad certificate, then u would at least have some local canadian educational background and in HR, that will help u to find a job, even if not in the HR field. A post grad cert only takes 8 mths to 1 yr, so its feasible in terms of time and money, after that u will get familiar with the canadian system and the HR system in Canada and then u would be able to find a survival job or a job in this field. As for yr husband, Mech enginners are highly demanded in Canada but not with Indian qualification, that would mean nothing here, so what he has to do is also to attend a polytechnic or college and get a Canadian Diploma in M engineering tech and then he would be able to land himself a M engineering tech job here easily. To be frank, with Indian qualifications, the chances for u guys to land jobs here are almost ZERO! so u either have to re-train or get ready to just be stuck in survival jobs if u stick with yr current qualification here in Canada.

to be frank, if this is yr resume, i can tell u for sure 10000% that u will not land yrself a job in Canada! first of all, no one cares and wants to know when is yr birth day and yr religion!

secondly, there are simply too many spelling mistakes and u cant even spell simple English words, how would u expect to be hired in any job in Canada! Even a Macdonald's job would be tough for u!

Thirdly, No one cares and will be interested where u were born and when!

Lastly, all yr qualifications mean nothing in Canada and its meaningless to many employers! No employer will really be interested to ready yr resume with such qualifications and yr resume!

No to be belittle u, u had better go back to high school in Canada, brush up yr English and also get some Canadian Qualification if u plan to find a decent job here! Yr standard is far way below a junior school students level in Canada man!

I'm afraid I must agree with some of these points. Your resume (as posted here) does not match the preferred Canadian format and style, and it contains what most would identify as mistakes in spelling and grammar. It is probably scary for some employers to even handle your resume because you include information that they are legally not allowed to ask due to anti-discrimination laws. I suspect many would drop it straight to the trash can over concerns that if they started the interview process with you and decided ultimately not to hire you, then you might make a case for discrimination. A forum member named CanadianCareerCoach has posted links (I believe in this folder) to resume examples and common formats, so you might want to take advantage of this and modify your resume.

On a positive note your degree in geology and mining is an advantage as the geology and mining industries are and will remain strong in Canada. You should (and probably do already) target your job search towards the tar sands areas of Alberta. Look for recruiters in your field who can help you modify your resume to specific jobs and also look for mining and geology focused job sites like InfoMine.

Hi Leo, I can't say for sure as I have no direct personal experience. But as part of my internship I had to interview a co-worker who happened to be a project manager. She is currently working on a PMP designation and said that she is finding more and more that PMP is a qualification requirement whereas it used to be listed as "an asset" in job postings. One definite asset if you do the PMP courses in Canada would be the network of contacts.

I have no knowledge at all about your HR question. Hope that helped a little bit.
