After seeing how long inland has been taking recently, boyfriend (sponsor) and I discussed the possibility of withdrawing our inland application and submitting outland instead. Outland would be through London and we saw that people have been getting residency within 4/5 months (someone we know did too). We made a list of pros and cons for both situations but I am still not too sure what to do. We've read that the two Candadian processing offices for outland are quicker than it being sent to London but obviously you can't pick which office processes your app. I also read that they are processing British people's applications faster, even thought they have apps from Islamabad too. If we were to change to outland, we would wait until I have my visitor extension so I would be in legal status. I guess the main benefit of applying inland is getting an OWP.

What's people's opinions?

I wrote up my opinion, but before I give it, did you apply to the OWP programme? If so why did you submit a visitor extension?

The quicker times for recent Outland UK applicants is slightly misleading and there's really not a lot to suggest if you reapplied outland you would get residency in 4-5 months unfortunately

There was a significant proportion of applications at the the end of 2014 and start of this year which got diverted for whatever reason to either Mississauga or Ottawa.

The lucky ones who got sent to Mississauga got residency in that 4-5 month period you've quoted, but no Outland UK applications have been sent to Mississauga since March so this doesn't really apply to current applicants.

There was also a lot going to Ottawa which is averaging 8-9 months, but while there's still the occasional UK applicant ending up there it's really only a handful.

The vast majority are going to the London VO which is averaging 12 months+, though there are the occasional quicker decisions.

This might well still be quicker than the Inland process, but as you say you would lose any option of applying for the OWP.

km9203 Check out the spreadsheet in my signature. Myself and another member called SchnookoLoly maintain it, it tracks UK applications and has many statistics, averages etc which will help you make an informed decision.

We applied for OWP with PR. My visitor visa ran out a month after submitting our app and we read that you didn't get implied status until you received your OWP...? So we thought we had to bridge the gap.

Na you get implied status as long as you apply for the OWP before your current status expires. Regardless, I agree with the above posts. Expect a year wait, if you can handle that, apply outland. If you have an OWP, that is not implied status, that is status :) Implied means you have an expired doc but an app in process.

Ah, thanks! They're taking around 5 months to even process the extensions, it is ridiculous :)

the extension kinda gives her the flexibility to withdraw inland and apply outland though. so it may be a boon in disguise.
