Friends, I became a Permanent Resident of Canada on September 25, 2013 by completing the landing formalities at Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. Unfortunately, I received a letter from PR card Processing Centre that the photographs provided did not meet the required specifications and it was therefore impossible to produce the PR card. I promptly re-submitted new photos to the PR Card Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia on November 13, 2013 but did not receive my PR card and have to travel to India December 26, 2013. I decided to apply for travel doc after I reach India but was just thinking if there is a way to withdraw the travel doc app if I receive my PR card and manage to courier it from Canada to India by my friend.

Did anyone withdraw travel doc application?

what is the process to request Delhi High Commission for travel doc application withdrawal?

How long does it take for High Commission to return the passport once the request for withdrawal is received?

I do not know whether or not you can withdraw the td application, however, if you hold a US visa you can return to Canada through a land border without the PR card (i.e. with your landing document) when you travel by a non-commercial vehicle.

My ticket is booked and the travel agent said it is not possible to re-route the ticket via US. I have to cancel the existing ticket and book a new ticket via USA which is costing me a fortune. So the USA option is ruled out for me :(

anyone please...
Your relying on the PR Card to get to you in time relies on your anticipated return date to Canada. CIC quoting 50 calendar days to process newly landed PR Cards...add in at least 10 calendar days for mailing from Nova Scottie to your Canadian address plus mailing time to India and it may be 2 months from November 13, 2013 for you to get your PR Card. This assumes CIC are ok with the re-sent photos maybe they will reject them again.

Keep your TD application going as a back up. Whichever comes first between PR Card and TD then use that to re-enter Canada. Its only 50 bucks for the TD so relative to your flight costs its negligible.

If your PR Card gets to you sure you can withdraw the TD application but you won't get the processing fee back unless your application hasn't been opened and work started which let's face it how do they know its yours without opening it and reviewing which to me sounds like 'work' commencing on the application. The visa post don't care either way after all you save them having to process your application and they can close the file off and keep the 50 bucks.

Enjoy you trip

Thanks for your reply Msafiri. I am planning to return to Canada on Jan 24. I am not worried about the 50 bucks and I will surely apply for TD as soon as I land in india :D Do you know anyone who withdrew their TD application and how long will New Delhi consulate take to return the passport. I was planning to withdraw application only if I manage to get my PRcard in time..

No I don't know anyone personally but there is probably an example on the forum if you search through the threads. However the visa post won't refuse your request to stop TD processing. The usual procedure is to write to the visa post clearly indicating you are withdrawing your TD application and need your passport back. Check the India visa posts section they should have details on document delivery and return.

I tried searching the New Delhi Canadian High Commission website for delivery and returns but did not find any information about withdrawing application :(

Hi, I have recently applied for the PRTD while in Mauritius and in the meantime I received my PR card which has been couriered to me by my husband. I have requested CIC to cancel process for the PRTD and return my passport. I am waiting to receive a reply from them within 30days. I am planning to travel in two weeks. I will keep you posted if I receive passports in the coming days.

Thanks I didnt pay attention :) i am new to the forum. I was looking for someone who had a similar situation and who has been waiting for passort to be returned.
Has anyone cancelled their application for PRTD and advise how long it takes the visa office to respond to an email and return the passports?
