Hello all.
Please I need an advice.
My work permit was about to expire so I applied for an extension(open work permit) just to buy more time. Note- no lmia job number or anything.

Luckily I got an ITA a day after my permit expired while on maintained status and I have applied for PR.

Now..do I withdraw that first application and apply for BOWP..or there is no need since an open work permit application is already in progress? I hear all our applications are linked because we have a just one unique client identification number.

Or can I just submit additional documents via the webform(i mean the document received after PR submission)?

Your advice will be appreciated.

Nope, you still need to submit a Work permit application even if you receive an ITA.
ITA or submitting an EE application doesn't guarantee your PR.
So, if you would like to continue working you need to have your work permit application active.
Submitting a PR application doesn't automatically create a new work permit application.

There are so many people in this forum who got their P2 approval and later got their work permit approved as well.
Unless you get ECOPR, you need to have the work permit application active.
I have received my P2 and waiting for ECOPR and my Work permit application.

@Mandalorian .
Thank you.

I'm asking if I should still apply for a Bridging open work permit after submitting my PR application?

I already have a work permit extension application ongoing before I submitted my PR application.

I know the process is to apply for BOWP when you submit your PR application but since I already applied for an extension of my work permit..should I withdraw that and apply for the BOWP instead?

So my dilemma is that since I have a work permit extension application ongoing...should I withdraw that and apply for the Bridging open work permit like I'm supposed to after submitting a PR application?

@Mandalorian
You wouldn’t qualify for the BOWP without the WP extension application if your original WP expired before you applied for BOWP.

Withdrawing the first application will put you in Canada out of status.

Thank you for your response.
So should I apply for the BOWP still or there's no need anymore since a work permit application is ongoing already?
