Will there be issue if I submitted an old PR card application version?

Hiya,

I just want to ask for your opinion on this matter....Recently (early this month), I submitted my PR card application...the form I used is that of June 2013 (according to the print on the lower left of the page). However, today when I visited CIC website, they have uploaded a new version of the application form (that is, September 2013). When I compare the two forms, both are very much identical except for some question items. So my question is: do you think I am still fine using June 2013 application form or do you think they might return my application package since I used an old form? Please help Leon, Msafiri, and others...

Hi Leon, Msafiri, and other experts:

Please share your thoughts on my concern above... I am currently anxious that my recently submitted application might be returned since I used an old version of the form (June 2013) vs. the current one (September 2013) -- which I have seen just now... :( What would you do if you are in my position? The reason I am anxious is that I do not want to have any delay on my PR card application with regular processing time... :|

The CIC site confusingly has the marker June 2013 next to the link for the Sep 2013 version of the PR Card renewal form which is incompetent to say the least. The actual version would be indicated on the left footer of the form. Did you keep a copy of what you submitted? If the information required is the same then you should be ok. If you easily meet the RO and this can be substantiated plus you submitted the required documents then sit back relax and wait for your new card in the mail. Hope it goes well for you.

Hi Msafiri,

Thanks for your reply. I agree that the June 2013 marker next to the link for the Sep 2013 version is indeed confusing.

Yes, I did keep a copy of what I have submitted. After comparing the two forms, the main differences are in Sep 2013 they added question #6 (which is to list your children) and all the input date fields require you to specify year, month, and day (vs. in June 2013 form where you specify only year and month). Other than those, the rest is the same.

I easily meet the RO as my days are more than 730 (according to entry and exit stamps and other docs). However, I am just anxious that they might return my application because I have used an old version of the form.

Its a conundrum indeed. I see 2 options:

1. Sit it out, or:

2. Send in a new application ASAP with the Sep 2013 version of the form (and hope it doesn't confuse CIC). Reason is that if you only applied this month then timeline to open and load on ecas should vary by time to new application so say 14 days with mailing time. In your re-application include a letter to cancel/withdraw the original application dated x on form June 2013 stating you used the incorrect form. You need to include a new $50 processing fee, copies of docs, photos etc.

Do you have travel plans? Are you visitor visa exempt? This may influence your urgency for the processing and if you want to exercise the sit out option. You would have a new 5 year window for RO review too but I guess this would not be an issue?

Maybe someone will think of an alternative but if CIC can't even mark the date timeline on form version correctly......
