I have lived in the Uk for the past 12yrs,now back to India for good due to visa issues. I am about to initiate the application for Canadian immigration.So just wanted to clarify a concern that I had regarding my self employment taxes in UK.My self employment account has been closed with a nil balance before I left uk and I have a confirmation letter of the same.However received a letter from HMRC(tax department) recently stating there is still some outsanding tax for an earlier period. I am in the process of sorting it out with HMRC but wanted to know if this overdue amount can in any way affect my application for immigration to Canada.Any help will be greatly appreciated.
