Will permanent residency by sponsorship bar removal order if refugee claim is denied?

My girlfriend is in Canada on a visitor visa and is applying for refugee status, a decision on which is expected any day now. If we got legally married and applied for permanent residence by sponsorship of a spouse, would that prevent her from being required to leave Canada if her refugee claim is denied?

It's not guaranteed. However if she is refused, she can appeal the decision to delay a removal.

It would be best to get married before the decision in the refugee case so that it doesn't look like a marriage of convenience she enters into after a possible refusal as a means of trying to remain in Canada.

Marriage and sponsorship is a big deal and a financial commitment for 3 years if she gets PR. Also there will likely be more scrutiny given her asylum claim especially if denied. How long have you dated? Do you live together? If so for how long? Are there any other red flags?
