Hello all,

I have 4+ years of experience(MNC Companies) in IT and my current designation is Software engineer. Also, i have done my BE(2008 Passed Out) in CSE and i dont have any gaps in my studies.

I have secured admission (May 2013 Intake) for Software engineering technician course(Diploma) from Centennial College and i am going to make payment for both tuition (Full course fee) and GIC ($10000) in coming weeks. However, i am worried about visa process because it feels like i am overqualified for this course and i am afraid that i will face visa rejection.

Since, this course is suitable for students who completed college and doesn't have any work experience. But, i selected this course because this will give me the broader opportunity to learn different technologies.

In Addition, I also have admission letter for Project Management course but i am more interested in Software engineering course so i am planning to apply visa for latter course.

Please share your opinion as it's greatly helps me to narrow down the options.

Hi,

First, Congratulations on your admission.

You always have a way out here. Apply visa with the offer received for project management and then once you reach canada change your program to software engineering.

Visa also depends on your SOP and academic scores.
All the best.

Thanks for your quick reply. For now, i am waiting for Software engineer course admisson letter and my consultancy people told me that i will get it in this week. Another reason is i beleive tution fee is lower(Atleast 1.5 lakhs) for Software engineering course than Project Management. Anyway, worst case i have to apply visa for Project management.

Also, my consultancy contact told me that there are visa changes and now you can make the payment for one term and you can pay remaining for next term. But, i beleive this can create the oppurtunity of visa rejection. So i planned for full payment.

My academic scores are,
10th - 85%
12th - 82%
Degree - 66.26 %
IELTS - 6.5

What do you think about scores and is there any possible aspect for my visa approval for software engineering course?

Most probably if you apply for diploma you will be rejected. Because not a single sense for VO.

Agree.

As CIC has made GIC deposit mandatory now you will have to follow the rules accordingly.

All colleges have their deadline within which a student can always get his 100% tuition fees refunded.

Thanks. I also have the same thought. Now, As per the new rule if i pay one semester fee and GIC, will my visa approved or still there is risk. Also, i came to know that i have to get updated admisson letter if i going to pay one semster fee.

Paying one sem fee and GIC will be a added advantage to your process and will not confirm visa clerance as course selection will be considered on top priprity.

I'm not sure about the updated admission letter process.

Ofcourse yes. I am going to apply visa for project management as its makes sense for VO. Because from my experience next step would be Project manager. I am going to with consultancy people tomorrow to confirm. Hope everything will go smoother.

I've seen a lot of cases who paid even the full first year of their studies but still got rejection. It is better you pay 1 year fees instead of 1 semester if you are planning to pay, however as I mentioned earlier this is not a guarantee for you but will give advantage to your case.

Actually i have enough money for GIC and one semester fees but don't have enough funds for 2 semesters. My consultant told me its really fine and asked me to pay GIC and one semester payment. I am really afraid of paying for one semester and it may favor visa rejection. I am little confused of what to do and i am looking to arrange the remaining amount. If i cant arrange than i have to go with one semester payment. Lets hope everything go well..

When I discussed about payment with my consultant i told her that i am afraid of paying one semester fee and she opened her mail which she received from college about fees payment policy to clear my doubts. Then she asked me to proceed with one semester with GIC payment with confidence. I will update you guys about this..

Remember, the matter of payment for your first year tuition fees is not really related to you college! When you pay your first year instead of your first semester, you will make VO somehow convince that you don't need to work extra hours for earning your tuition fees. (This is for VISA side only not University). In the other hand, it is also possible to pay your first sem but show a good bank account statement to assure VO you have sufficient money to pay your semester fees as well as 10K for each year of your studies. Good luck.
