will marrying to canada resident effect travel to canada , if one has existing canada tourist visa but never travelled ? In case of Martial status change(After marrying to canada resident) one should not have any problem at border in case of tourist visa to live in canada for 6 months ?

She will get questioned at the border on why she is coming and who is she staying with. Most probably she will be let in, but expect further questioning.

Hi Risabh,

Whether someone is allowed entry or not depends on the CBSA officer s/he meets at the POE.


In case of Martial status change(After marrying to canada resident) one should not have any problem at border in case of tourist visa to live in canada for 6 months ?
It's possible the visitor may be denied entry/have a difficult time at the POE if it appears that s/he is trying to live long-term in Canada.... because s/he wants to bypass the long wait for spousal PR
