Hello All,

I am currently a student in Los Angeles, CA. My spouse just filed the spousal sponsorship paperwork.

I am graduating this May and will be heading back to my home country (Philippines)

I was thinking of visiting my wife in Canada for a month then heading back home to Manila

Will there be any issue regarding this or is it wise

Well, you need a visa to visit Canada... so that's really where the decision will be. If you get the visa approved then you're good to go, but Canada may deny it. You'll need to show proof of your intent to leave at the end of your stay. So really it's just about putting together the best application possible and seeing what happens.

My wife (from Korea) stayed with me in Canada until she received her PR. Altogether she lived her for about 17 months (legally, btw) on her tourist VISA. Just be upfront and honest at the boarder and state that you understand that you will have to do your landing when you get the COPR.

There is a VERY big difference: your wife is visa-exempt, while the OP is not.
