I've lived in 3 countries including Canada. I don't have any criminal record, but based on what I understand about applying for work permits at the port of entry, it says that I "may be asked to provide a police certificate".

It doesn't say that one is needed. Canadian police certificates take about 16 weeks to get and I will without a doubt receive my LMO before then. I don't want this police certificate to hold me up, but I also don't want to waste my LMO and airfare money in the event that they ask for it and I don't have it with me. I'm sure that the visa officers would certainly know if I was deported from Canada because of criminal activity. So would they really need a Canadian police certificate from me? I have no problem getting a police certificate from my own country in a short time span, so will that be enough for them? Or should I just wait it out and have all my police certificates in case they really do ask?
