I have applied for McMasters,
U of Saskatchewan
and U of Windsor
for MEng in Electrical and Computer engineering FALL 2013.
BTech -68% (still to give my 4-2 exams)
Intermediate(+2) -76.8%
10th -83%
Ielts -7.5 (each band above 6)

Can anybody please tell me if there are any chances of me getting into these universities.

Hi,

Profile looks good.
Got high chances of acceptance in Univ. of Windsor... Quiet good chances in U of Sask. and can't say anything for sure about Mc-Master...may or may not be accepted. However its just an assumption... and nothing can be known... till you get the actual result. Who knows.. in a very unlikely scenario... you may get accepted in Mc-Master and get rejected in Windsor!

Best of Luck.

Hi,

English language proficiency is an important criteria, apart from one's academic records to get admitted to the Master's program at Canadian public universities.

Assuming, your's is a 4 years degree and you meet all academic requirements for admission to the Master degree courses in Actuarial science.. with your very good GPA, profile looks good..except for the IELTS score, which is falling short of the minimum standard requirement of IELTS 6.5( with 6 in all bands). Now, if the universities in which you applied to, has some sought of English prep course (sometimes it's there.. usually for UG level students) before starting the actual Master degree, then they MAY accept you on the grounds that you successfully complete the English prep. course... Or they may ask you to reappear for IELTS and submit new IELTS score, and they may defer your admission to the next academic term... or given your very good GPA.. who knows they might accept you directly too. But, that's very unlikely..as Universities have strict minimum eligibility criteria, and you are not meeting that minimum eligibility criteria for English language proficiency. if, in-case you do not get accepted, prepare and reappear for IELTS... try to score atleast 7.0 overall, and then again reapply to the universities.

Best of Luck.

chances or rather I ll use the word probability of ur chances getting in these universities are:-
Mcmaster- 5%
Sask- 25%
WINDSOR-75-85%
This is based on how the competition is at present for ECE in this univ and other profile which I have seen

can u suggest any other universities which suit my profile.
Hi,

Given your profile, you may consider pursuing a 1-2 years Master degree program at a Canadian public university.

Most Canadian universities need B grade or minimum 60% in final 2 years of B.tech degree for students from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria etc. and an IELTS score of 6.5 overall (with no bands less than 6)(some may require IELTS score of overall 7) for applying to engineering Master degrees. They DO NOT require GRE. Some, universities like the university of Manitoba, Memorial university consider min. 55% in final 2 years as equivalent to B grade.
Example: (Univ. of Manitoba international equivalency chart)- http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/graduate_studies/facultyinfo/assess/view.php?cid=20
However, meeting just the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. The higher your B.Tech scores are, more your chances of getting admission.

You can pursue a course based 1-1.5 years length M. Eng master degree OR research oriented, thesis based 2 years long MaSc./Msc. degree. The research based degrees are usually much more competitive, where one generally needs to show some knack for research (like published papers) and selected students usually get partial or full funding.

You can see general rankings of Canadian universities to get an overall idea.. as to which universities are reputed.
For example: http://www.university-list.net/canada/rank/univ-7007.htm
www.4icu.org/ca/

You can consider applying to M.Eng (ECE/CS) programs OR Research based Master degrees in ECE/CS/related fields in ANY of the recognized public universities across Canada... especially the mid level universities.

Here's the list of ALL recognized Canadian educational institutes eligible for OCWP+PGWP, listed according to province:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/institutions/participants.asp

You need to go through the university department websites, contact the university departments to know more such as course content, graduate degree options, deadlines, tuition fees, admission procedure etc. You will have to do the hard work to find the right type of programs of your desire and shortlist a list of say atleast 4-6 more universities, you may consider applying to.

The application submission date for Fall 2013 (Sept) start in most universities is already long over, and you should consider applying for 2014 Fall intake, , for which usually the last date can be anywhere between Nov 1 2013 (for research based programs) to Feb 1 2014 (for course based).

Best of Luck.
