Will I be allowed back into Canada a few days before my permit expires?

I have to go to the UK in July and my flight back to Canada is on 20th July. My work permit expires on 25th July and so does my TRV but I have already applied for an extension of my work permit.

Will they allow me to board my flight? Will the customs ppl let me back in if I show proof that my extension is under process? I've called IRCC and they said I will be allowed back in but I just want to know other ppl's experience with this

Yes, you will be allowed to board and to enter Canada till the day your TRV/permit expires.
