Will having part time Canadian diploma or certificate help in increasing CRS point?

My temporary work visa is in process. I am just another IT guy. I have done Bachelor of Technology in computer science.

I am wondering if I join some part-time 1-year pg diploma or certificate (while working full time) in Canada once I reach Canada, will it help in increasing CRS score?

I know I am planning for too much ahead in the future.

It could increase your CRS score, but you would have to apply for a study permit and it's not clear if you could hold both a study permit and a work permit at the same time. Keep in mind if you take the program part-time it wouldn't qualify you for a PGWP.

Thanks for your reply.

Since I will be having a work visa for at least 2 years, I won't need PGWP.

I calculated my points, even after 1 year of Canada experience, those are very less. So I am looking for ways other than IELTS (I already know about it) to increase points.

How many points does it help to increase?

What are the criteria (for example particular course or duration etc) for ECA to accept it?

You could get seven or eight additional points.

You don't need an ECA report for educational programs completed in Canada.

You may need to look into a study permit, because from what i know you can only study part time up to 6 months on a work permit.

Maybe someone else can confirm or deny this.

You cannot enroll in Diploma or anything like that while on a study permit, same way as you cannot work full time while on a study permit (with certain exceptions).

You can, however, hold both permits simultaneously and you could do both at the same time.

The problem is, however, that if you have a WP your study permit application might not be accepted. Also, you must study-full time while on a study permit, you cannot complete a degree part-time.

You could pursue a degree while working but you'll have to make a strong and convincing case to have a Study permit issued while on a recently issues work permit.

I held a PGWP and Study Permit simultaneously for about 9 months before I became a PR, so it is possible. I went from Study Permit --> PGWP --> PGWP+ Study Permit --> PR (please note I didn't complete my second Canadian degree yet, so I converted from a foreign to a local student)
