Will CIC request a deferment letter?

Hello everyone.

I am a student from Pakistan. I got admission at University of Alberta for my PhD program for January 2016 intake. However, I was not able to process my application quickly due to some reasons and I applied for study permit in December 2015. I received Medical Request from CIC in mid January and completed the requirement.

Now I am still waiting to hear from CIC as my application status is not updated from last 7 weeks. I applied online. My application still shows "We Need Your Medical Information". I went through my medical in late January.

I have already received deferment letter from the University but CIC has not requested the deferment letter yet.

Will CIC ask me for the deferment letter or do I have to contact them and tell them about deferment letter?
