Will a 1-year job contract with LMIA help EE-FSW?

Hi all,

I have a query regarding the below job offer clause:

Federal Skilled Workers and Canadian Experience Class
A valid job offer has to be:
- "for at least one year after we issue your permanent resident visa"

I am in the express entry pool under the FSW-O stream.

Supposing that I get a job offer, which in itself is one year long, with positive LMIA.
Lets say PR is issued in month-5 out of the 12-month contract. Obviously, I cannot continue working for the same employer for another 12 months because I have only 7 months remnant in said contract! So what happens in this case?

Your employment letter must state that you have a full-time job, one year past receiving PR. So a year long contract is not long enough. Your employer must commit to this when you apply for EE.

Hey thanks for your reply. Let's say hypothetically for my knowledge -

"I myself decided to quit soon after receiving a PR card, it is still fine.... but the employment contract must explicitly commit for a year of employment after receiving PR"

^ Is it supposed to be this way? Is my understanding correct?

Yes the employer must commit. So if applying through FSW, your employer really has to commit for 2-3 years or more given current situations. Assume you have an approved LMIA because that is difficult to secure right now. If you have one, you are fortunate.
