Last year I applied for Quebec CSQ. This year I got and accepted a full time permanent job offer in Ottawa, Ontario. The CSQ application is still in process. I still intend to live and work in Quebec (Gatineau). If I land in Montreal while working in Ottawa, will this be a problem or will I be alleged to have misrepresentation? I cannot reject a good job offer just to be a 'good provincial nominee' and moreover I still intend to live in Quebec (Gatineau precisely - I INTEND TO GET A PART TIME WEEKEND JOB IN GATINEAU IF I CANNOT SECURE FULL TIME JOB IN GATINEAU IN ORDER TO QUIT MY CURRENT JOB). Will I have landing problems in this scenario? Why or why not?

NB: I am working in Ottawa on a temporary work permit; I also intend to file FSW with Job Offer and whichever comes through first, I withdraw the other so if FSW comes through first, I withdraw Quebec and if Quebec comes through I withdraw FSW.

If you get Quebec skilled worker first, land in Quebec. When they ask you for a mailing address, you can tell them that you don't have one yet and will let them know later. Then move to Gatineau and give them your new address when you are done.

If they were to ask more about your situation, you can tell them that you are on a work contract in Ottawa but you will move to Gatineau as soon as possible and look for a job there.

Hi Leon,

Is there any law in Quebec that is against somebody with QSW to relocate to another province after nomination.

There is no such law that I know of but keep in mind that when you immigrate, you sign a document stating that you intend to settle in Quebec. If you lie on anything you sign for immigration, you are guilty of misrepresentation. If you commit misrepresentation and are caught, you can lose your PR. This is not a law, but the rules immigration works by.

Because of the above, you need to be careful. Landing in Quebec goes without saying or they will right away be suspicious that your plan is not to live in Quebec. After landing, you have to think about how you will cover your behind if somebody ever accuses you of having lied when you said you would settle in Quebec. If you stay in Quebec one day after landing and then move to another province, it is pretty clear that you never intended to settle there. If you stay however for 2-3 months, you can claim that you looked for jobs and could not get one but ended up getting a better offer from another province.
