Wife sponsoring me question.

Me (US citizen) and my girlfriend ( CAD citizen) really wanna be married and live together finally (Completely out of love)and we plan on having a nice tiny quick wedding this year with her family who’s in canada, It’ll be very small and simple since my family can not attend. We will have a very nice vowel renewal later on with everyone attending once we are more financially stable which can’t happen till we finally live together and get real jobs which can’t happen till we’re married lol. So i plan on surprising her in April and proposing (She thinks my next visit is in June) and then we would more than likely wanna be married in June for our anniversary. Would it be okay if i got my police report after are engagement but before our wedding so we can do our application after we’re married and i’m still visiting or does all that have to be done after marriage? Has anyone else planned on gotten paperwork work ready before they were actually married or is this a red flag? I’d assume everyone else is getting married and also planning on filling out the application
