Hi All,

I sponsored my wife and she landed and received the PR card. The problem here is that I am not able to find the job I want in the city I want (where my sister lives).

Can my wife move alone to Canada and I keep working overseas until I find the right job in Canada?
Will this be considered misrepresentation since we have to move together to Canada according to the family sponsorship rules?
What are the consequences for such plan? any penalties?

Regards

She can move to Canada without you. No issues.

Hi Scylla,

Thanks for the quick response. So what I understand and to verify,

1) Since I was the sponsor on the application, moving to Canada with my wife is NOT a mandatory rule and it is optional, correct?
2) If my wife lives alone in Canada, I believe I have to file for Canadian taxes while working overseas, correct? If yes, where to get more details about it?
3) Later when my wife files for the Canadian citizenship, she will NOT be asked why I (the sponsor) was not in Canada with her, correct?

1. You don’t have to move. She has PR.
2. She files for taxes not you.
3. She will not be asked why you didn’t come to Canada.
