My wife is qualified to apply for citizenship. However the first 1.5 years she was a homemaker and also since she moved from the Gulf, we did not know anything about dependent visa cancellation at that time and her residence permit is also non-cancelled. We use to live with our parents as a joint family, so we didn't have a lot of obligations of things needs to be closed in the country before leaving. What proof of residence can be used in her case?

Apartment lease and mortgage document. Also if any baby born here. It is perfectly fine if she doesn't have job for year and half. If you had job that time she can submit that as financial support. My wife didn't work at all still able to apply and she got RQ at interview for a silly reason.

Okay that sounds good. I have those items. For what silly question did she get an RQ?

She travelled US with travel permission which is called advance parole. The CIC interviewer thought she is in parole from US and troubled with law.

How about Universal Child Benefits statement? It is usually given to lower income parent which is wife if she stays home.

I don't have rent receipts. But it seems so easy to create your own as it is neither standardized nor controlled by CRA or any other org. :o

While you don't have rent receipts, you can get a letter signed by the landlord verifying that you have been living in the apartment since you moved in.

CRA has recently asked my wife for signed letter from landlord stating when we moved in the building for child benefits evaluation purposes, along with school records and family doctor records.

So if CRA ask for a signed letter from landlord, I am sure the letter will suffice for CIC citizenship as well.

Many landlords become uncooperative in issuing letters especially where the tenant is paying cash....all that undeclared income that CRA will now be privy to eh!

Well, that is too bad for those who pay cash for rent. They are suppose to write cheques so that it is traceable and they can claim rent expenses in income taxes.

It's true that landlords can become uncooperative, but it is not true that the CIC shares info with the CRA. It would violate the Charter and the Privacy Act to do so.
