Why they are asking for 6 month presence of Child in a Year

Hi Folks
I have a question while filling the citizenship form, why they are asking for 6 month presence of Child in a year whereas they are not asking the same question to adults.

Any idea, my child (7 years old)was not in Canada in 2010 & 2011 for six month but since in 12, 13 & now in 2014 he is here continuously.

This could be the reason, that means they would communicate this information to CRA at some stage. Fortunately, we already informed CRA about the absence.

CIC cannot share your information with CRA, just as CRA cannot share your information with CIC.

The exact question is "Has the child left Canada for 6 months or longer since becoming a permanent resident?" They don't say anything about 6 months per year, so I don't know where you got that from.

As minors aren't required to meet the residency obligation and usually apply for citizenship alongside one or both parents, I would guess that CIC uses the child's residency info when looking at the parents' residency obligation.
