I am seriously considering, after my wife arrives, ( Lord willing) after 1 year, contacting folks at TLN= Telelatino, and urging them to get with it, and go after this....( many explatives here), gov't, and DEMAND changes made to this BS favoritism in Canada! I do not know what it all entails, but I am amazed this issue has not been addressed. I am happy for people who have a speedy and happy ending to all of this, but??? Does the federal gov't simply want Canada to be an asian country? It is not just about $$, Berlin Germany 14 months? What is seriously going on. ???

It's not really a matter of asian, some offices are just so well equipped to meet the demand. It's sad but true. They really need to put an audit out on all the slow processing countries and revamp them as necessary. It is unequal treatment that's for sure. Depressing to say the least for those of us in slow offices.. Our office has only 5 officers plus they are dealing with a slow government for correspondence. When I went to the visa section of our embassy here it was chaos.. They have line ups for the refugees of Sudan and Gaza, then you have the Egyptians trying to get tourist visa's, then you have the tons of people arriving on Thursday's for PR's. Its insane.

Thank you Bancuk for your balanced view. I know this is all a huge issue and difficult for the gov't to handle. I was venting because, ( I really am happy for good people who do not have to wait as long as some of us), but the feeling is something like waiting in line at a super market, and every time you move ahead, 2 more people get in line ahead of you. I know this is a terrible parallel, because all offices are different, but to add insult to injury, when I dealt with a lady working for my M.P., as I wrote above, she looked at all P.R. visas and said 17 months, and was annoyed that after ONLY about 11 months from my application, I was already expecting some kind of news. And of course meanwhile, I read of cases elsewhere, 3-4 months total. OK. Enough of my venting, I am sure when I finally get a call from Colombia that my wife has her Canadian P.R. Visa, I will be the happiest guy on the planet :)

Thank you faycal. Time is flying for me, but I miss my new wife and new 8 year old daughter.I have not seen them now for 1 year. I often think of it as similar to when husbands go off to war. My wife said "yes", she is the one waiting, but a huge difference, I will probably not be killed before we are together. One interesting aspect of all of this, I can appreciate a lot more the terrible times when husbands had to have left spouses and family for serving their country, and oddly, through waiting, our love has grown, not diminished :)

hi!

I would to site an example like Manila Office. What is the reason why it took so long for them to have a decission with regards to our applications?

Hope you could give us reasons why this happening?

It's very hard to be separated from the ones you love. In our visa office, they do not unify familes who are separated from each other quickly. They pass the ones who are actually living together first, much quicker. The ones who are actually separated can take years to process. this 6 month avg processing time bullsh*t, is just words.

I applied one week after someone who is LIVING there...they have the PPR after one month of file review, no interview and are almost done. As of yesterday, my file has been approved since April 8, it was 'received' in their office on may 21, we did not get notice of that file being received on HIS email until june 16th [one month later almost], and with that email they said they received it May 28, one week AFTER they told the minister they received it. AND they still have not reviewed our file...so that's four months since I was approved.

Funny how a week before me, and the file is cleared, processed, ppr issues...but my case has not yet even been looked at.

I submitted a good kilo of evidence and support. Letters from our family, our friends, co-workers. Phone bills for the whole year showing the calls both him calling me, me calling him. Emails from him to me, and me to him, over the course of our relationship. Receipts of the shabka [gold] he gave me, photos of our time together, with his family and in our vacation, holiday.....I cant even remember what else I submitted....and yet they have not even reviewed the file.

I have seen people submit nothing and get approved sooner - really I don't know what to say, and I am utterly disgusted right now.

I requested the CAIPS as I hadn't heard from the MP until yesterday - I will get that soon, and really know what the file is saying.

I also read speculation somewhere that they give preference to Citizens. Not sure how much truth there is to that but makes you wonder. They definitely need more officers if they can't handle the pressure of so many applications. There should be a standard 6 months for most cases and it shouldn't take long for the ones that have no questions in their applications. That way they can focus on all the cases in a more structured manner. What I don't understand is how they can't do a preliminary review while they are typing out the AOR? This part doesn't make sense to me. I personally didn't submit a lot of "evidence" as I didn't feel I had to substantiate an 8 year relationship. I gave them enough pictures and photocopied all my visa's and boarding passes. Also I gave them years of greeting cards from friends and family for various occasions. If it takes so long to review files and first check for the genuinity of the relationship then there is a problem with the staff at that embassy. It should be the first thing done as soon as they open the file... not sitting waiting to be assigned. Who writes the AOR then? A clerk? Looks like that office needs another audit. Also there is alot of profiling in that embassy as to religious differences, education differences, social differences. In Canada we have many different couples of race, religion, education etc.. So why arent they practicing our belief system there. My other big rant is the background check. If there is such a backlog then why arent they hiring more ppl to deal with it! So many ppl are jobless I'm sure tons would love to work for them!
I truly feel for you Rasha, but having a passport request isn't all it's cut out to be with Cairo. I hope that with the CAIPS you can see something and get an idea what has been looked at and if you do in fact have an officer assigned to it. I remain hopeful that you will still receive everything by the end of the 6 months as stated in the AOR. How come others in similar situations as yours did.. and you wouldnt?

Boncuk,

I agree with you completely, you should not have to substantiate your relationship, for that long a period of time. But really, I don't know what to say.

Hubby was like today, how they can give us a file number and not even look at our file - anyway. Caips will give us some information..as I said in my PM to you :).

take care

As per C.A.I.P.S. notes, after 6-7 months in Bogota, I finally ordered mine. They didn't reveal hardly anything. They gave her name and daughters. That she is married, has brown eyes, is so high, and granted her 13 years of education, even though she has had more. Medical seemed fine, and thjat was it. No decision on anything. So, I don't know how long people should wait to order them. Again, every case is differnt. I am just wondering in maybe 2 more months if I can order them again? Or that will just P. someone off and maybe slow us down longer. any opinion?

Its a snapshot capture of the file in process - it doesn't affect your processing time, and really I don't even know if they know when you request it...it's being retrieved through the Freedom of Information Act....but I doubt it has any bearing......

I would request it as you need. Have you used your MP at all yet?

You really can't compare apples and oranges you know. If you are from one country you have to deal with the realities of doing business there you already know how things work there . Ask yourself some honest hard questions like these:

Are there many people trying to come to Canada from your country?
Are there many people trying to sneak, trick, break the law, or marry anyone just to get into Canada from your country?
Is crime a problem in your country?
Is corruption a problem in your country?
Is the government quick to repond to requests? Do they do good work on the requests?
I am sure there are more differences that can explain differences in timelines as well.

If you compare a country like say Columbia...to a country like Egypt, Russia, England, China, whereever you will get very different answers. Applicants from Columbia might get checked more from criminality. Applicants from England might be easier to check if they are criminals and therefore quicker. Many people apply in China, so they have many staff. Fewer apply from Russia so they have less staff. If the local government is slow to respond to requests then it will slow things down of course. This would be different for many different countries and maybe even areas within a country.

They do audits of the different offices on occasion as well, so they do look at the locations and staffing and processes. They don't just set them up and let them run amok.

And in the end every application is different. A guy married to a woman who has never moved, never lived in another country, and has an easily checked background would probably go much faster than a guy married to a woman who has lived in 4 countries over the years who would require more checking.

Apples and oranges. It sucks to wait, we all have to wait, sometimes you're an apple, sometimes you're an orange.
