I am from Singapore and my husband and we have applied for PR in Canada. We have been waiting since July 2006. We applied under the Skilled Worker category. We have done our medicals twice - 2009 & 2010 and still no answer. I actually studied in Canada and have a degree from there and I don't understand why it is taking so long? Anyone out there experiencing this LONG LONG wait? 
By the way, we used an immigration agent here. Now, the agent is no longer operating in Singapore and refuses to help us.
My husband jokes that the immigration officers are hoping that we give up the idea of going because we are already in our 40's. (lower end)
