I was looking at the list for processing visa, PR aside- even for visitor visas and student visas they take the longest, even India has 1 week processing time....just wondering if anyone has any idea why this processing time is so high...I am sure Indian HC gets more applications on a daily/weekly basis than ISB HC.

I am guessing they are short on staff?

Seems like no one really knows .....

but it will be helpful to actually find out about this -- its discrimination in a way against a particular country. I have also heard that CHC in ISB is also dealing with applicants from Afghanistan - this shouldn't become a reason to lengthen processing times for the country the CHC operates in - we have MRC passports, the entire system is pretty much online, there is email and all sorts of advancement in tech and if elsewhere they can do it quickly then why are we an exception....

Canadian goverment has a very narrow attitude towards muslim countries. Pakistan being on the top of that list. They basically do whatever the hell they want as they know our goverment in Pakistan has no balls to push the Canadians in facilatating us pakistanis. It is sad but true.

Omeirk,

I am a resident Pakistani and a muslim. Having never lived in Canada, Canadian government gave me and my family PR in 7 months. They are not discriminatory. I think quite frankly, our muslim brothers in Gulf countries are discriminatory. I had lived in UAE for 13 years with no hope of ever getting PR in Dubai. Same is the policy of all our Arab muslim brotherly countries.

Why Canada takes a long time for process TRV in Islamabad, I do not know. I can speculate that it might be because very few foreign embassy staff work in Pakistan due to bad law & order situation. On a side note, I was a victim of armed robbery just today. Secondly, no one in Pakistan can deny that documents are frequently dodgy in Pakistan, so probably verification of docs also cause delays.

Canada has shifted most its staff from Islamabad. PR applications from Pakistan are now processed in London.
