Why did they refuse my family's visitor visa?

Hi All,

This forum is very helpful! I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into why my family was refused a TRV.
My family consists of my parents and my younger brother. They live in Honduras.

The reasons for refusal for the three of them are the following:

-Your travel history
-Your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence
-Your current employment situation
-Your personal assets and financial status
-I am not satisfied that you have sufficient funds, including income or assets, to carry out your stated
purpose in going to Canada or to maintain yourself while in Canada and to effect your departure.

The first two reasons I understand since my family is not wealthy. They don't have properties or lots of assets, but they do have a steady income.

However, my status in Canada is Permanent Resident and as a host I pledged to cover all the costs related to my family's visit to Canada. I indicated this in the application and I provided proof of my income, which is high enough to support their flights and their stay in Canada, which would be for only 3 weeks. So I'm confused as to why they gave "Financial funds and personal assets/income" as one of the main reasons for rejection. Why? :(

Regarding travel history/family ties, I know my family doesn't have proof for that. Does that mean that my family won't be able to visit just because they are not rich?

We are very sad, and I'm thinking of getting a lawyer and applying again. However I heard it is a lot of money?

Any input would be much appreciated!

Thanks :)

The biggest reason they cannot come is they're all trying to come together as a whole family. This will lead CIC to believe that they will all just simply come to Canada and not leave. If they all come here, there's no family tie, no body to go back to in Honduras. As for financial funds/assets, I believe they're mainly focused on how much they're bringing in, not necessarily how much the host has, otherwise it would be very easy to just say "I have no money, but my host will take care of me".

Don't waste money on a lawyer.

Instead, tell them to try again or have your parents apply super visa first, if approved, then get regular visit visa for your brother.

That makes sense. My parents bank accounts added up to around $1500. It may seem little for Canada, but it's a considerable amount for an average Honduran family and I believe it is enough for any personal expenses since they are only staying 3 weeks, and I'm covering flights, food and housing. Am I wrong? If so, around how much should financial funds should my family show inspite of me covering the costs?

We're scared to try again and waste money and time just for them to refuse again. Also isn't the super visa the same or more strict requirements than the regular visitor visa? What frustrates me is I have enough income to cover all their costs for 3 weeks and even more, but I feel that no matter how much income I have, my parents financial status will never allow them to visit me.
My brother is also underage, so my parents can't just come first and leave him alone. :(

The Canadian government is very anti-family. They also think that everyone has a lot of money and can travel the world when they want like many Canadians. They do not realize that many people work for many years to save money to visit Canada. But no if you have not been to the uSA, England, France and many other countries they think you can not go to Canada. Canadian immigration is a bunch of racist jokes.

:'( It is very frustrating.

I'm thinking of applying for the supervisa for my parents like steaky suggested, and once it is issued maybe get my brother to apply for a study permit.

Does anyone think that the requirements for supervisa are more strict than the regular visitor visa, though? Applying that way will probably solve the 'family ties' problem but would my family still get rejected for their 'current employment situation', 'Your personal assets and financial status' and 'travel history'.?

That's not true. My wife's cousin, his wife and kid (6 year old) managed to get a visitor visa last year and visited us in Vancouver before heading to Toronto and New York.

Unfortunate post. Canada is great country where they have one of the best immigration laws and policies I have ever seen.

I won't go too far. I got a VISA for my mom, gf and for a friend to visit me. They had no savings, completely depended on me during their trip and had no travel history whatsoever. Canada is very aware that we as immigrants want to have our families and friends visit us and make their best effort to help us achieve that desire.

Please don't let bad experiences cloud your judgment.

Unlike the USA, Canada do not issue I-94 to non visa-exempted visitors.

That what makes USA sucks - issuing paper I-94 - delaying travels. Like I said before, it's possible for people come and visit Canada.

usa is more flexible to give visas,,,just go to an embassy and thats it,,no online application where you never know if they saw your application or not,,,and just took your money for ''processing(how can i even know they looked at my papers??''

and nop,to unskilled people there is no way to go to canada,,,at least for the ones living in cuba.
