hello,

I was wondering why low-skilled TFWs are not qualified to apply for Permanent residecy.. Does this mean that regular canadians working in low-trade jobs are considered less of an asset to Canada because they earn less??? I know employers can sponsor them, but not are as fortunate...

Im also wondering why the 4-year working cap... doesnt all these contributions to the Canadian society count as an asset... besides, not all TFWs wants to immigrate here in the first place... most wants to earn enough and go back to their home countries...

its a little disturbing.. quite unethical.. make TFWs as the slave force... yet not entitled to benefits... they all pay taxes regularly including Canada pension plan where they cannt ever touch coz they've been kicked out of the country... and EI that not everyone benefits..

thanks... :-[

Remember no one is holding a gun to their head to take these jobs. If a TFW contributes to CPP for 4 years, then they would be entitled to approximately 1/10 of the CPP pension at age 65 and yes it can be claimed from overseas.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Each country decides who gets to immigrate. If they open the doors too wide when times are good, they will suffer unemployment and poverty when times get tough. That is why there are temporary foreign workers.

It is like a farmer who has a seasonal harvest. He hires day labourers or seasonal people to help him. It would make absolutely no sense for him to hire these guys year round if he has nothing to do for them except during the harvest.

You are not being taken advantage of because you know what you are getting into when you take a job like that. It is a temporary job and you can also say no to it.

At least with Canada, if you play your cards right, you can have opportunities to immigrate. You either need more skills or you need the right experience. Live-in caregivers for example. Some provinces also have immigration opportunities for certain people under low or semi skilled NOCs. You can also get promoted or look for a new job as a skilled temporary worker. For example a burger flipper who becomes a shift manager is now skilled. He needs to change his work permit to reflect that and then will have many more opportunities to immigrate.

If their occupation is one of the 29 most wanted, they can apply any time. If not, they need a job offer to apply. They can not use a C or D skilled job as a job offer to apply under skilled worker.
