While PR application is being processed, can person stay in Canada?

Hi,
Is it legal to stay in Canada while your PR application is being processed, in case you applied from inside Canada and your temporary status here is getting expired? or as soon as temporary status has been expired person has to leave Canada?

Well I suppose they are two different visas. If there is any gap between both, how would you justify to the authorities your presence on Canadian land?

Of course; just extend your current status that simple!

Yes either you extend your status or if expired, you restore it within 90 days or you leave
