Forum Experts:

I am looking for advice on what Title to enter in the "Job Title" portion of the Express Entry online form.

I have worked all along in IT and have held various positions over the years. My work exp most closely match with NOC 2171 and that is the one I will be using in the application.

However, the job title on my offer letter/reference letter IS NOT AVAILABLE in the list of Example titles in the NOC 2171 link.

I have been able to find 1 title in the list that is somewhat of a match but NOT EXACT.

As far as I understand, the title can be anything as organizations follow their own designation structure. As long as the job duties match, title shouldn't matter

I have received contrary advice from my friend who has been helping out in the process. He suggests I enter the closest matching title in the "Job Title" column in the profile and then provide a letter of explanation incase asked by the Visa officer, explaining the discrepancy in the title on the reference letter.

So the gist of my questions is:

Option 1: Should I enter my EXACT job title in the EE profile form EVEN THOUGH it DOES NOT feature in the list of Example titles for my NOC? This way all my reference letters/offer letters will have the same job title that I have entered in the profile.

OR

Option 2: Should I enter the CLOSEST MATCHING title from the Example title list in the NOC in the EE profile? My reference letters will have the actual job title though.

I am leaning towards Option 1 whereas my friend who has provided excellent advice to this point is leaning on Option 2.

Is there a chance that ITA does not get issues in case the Job title DOES NOT match?

I am looking for some guidance from the forum experts on this issue

Thanks,
Sam

Option 1. The title should match with the one in the reference letter. I am no expert, but I have seen seniors give this advice multiple times on this forum. From my GCMS notes, the agent wrote that the job duties in reference letter match the NOC. There was no mention of job title. Changing the title would be misrepresentation.

This is correct. Option 1 is your best choice.
